This document describes the importance of sex-, gender- and diversity-based analysis (SGBA+) to the substance use and addiction field and offers guidance on how to integrate SGBA+ into research, knowledge mobilization and policy-related activities. It illustrates utilization of a sex, gender and equity-based lens to substance use issues.
