The BC Peer Worker Training Curriculum is designed to deliver uniform educational resources that are accessible across the province, evidence-based, and informed by the lived and living experiences of people who use substances. The training modules center the voices and experiences of peer workers and have been developed for and by peer workers in British Columbia. Peer workers are individuals with past or present substance use experience who use that lived/ living experience to inform their professional work. The BC Peer Worker Training Curriculum is a collaborative effort between three groups: the BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) Peer-2-Peer Project, Ministry of Mental Health and Additions (MMHA) BC Campus, and Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) Street Degree in Overdose Prevention. Each group focuses on one aspect of the training, together creating a comprehensive list of skills for peer workers.
